Wages Hours and Conditions As of 1 January 2010, the Tasmanian Governments powers for industrial relations are transferred to the Commonwealth. All workplaces in the private sector, who up until this time had remained in the state system (sole traders, partnerships etc), will be moving into the national scheme (Fair Work Act) effective from this date. This move will not affect state service employees who will remain under the Tasmanian Industrial Relations Act 1984 . Workplace Standards Tasmania will no longer be providing industrial relations advice other than to State Service employees. Private sector employers and employees who previously dealt with Workplace Standards Tasmania for wages and conditions information will need to redirect all future enquiries to
