Fundraiser for the Victorial Bushfire Appeal

	Guest Speakers: Maureen Lowrey, Parks and Wildlife Service & Jess Brown, Tas Fire Service

Unions Tasmania ' s Womens Committee turned this Years International Womens Day Event into a Fundraiser for the Victorian Bushfire Fund and celebration of women in our emergency services.

Maureen Lowrey from the Parks and Wildlife Service and Jess Brown from Tas Fire Service, both recently returned from working on the bushfire fighting effort in Victoria , spoke about their experiences.

Thanks to both of them for sharing their observations and giving the gathering some idea of just how vast and devastating the fires were.

Donated items were auctioned raising nearly $600 for the Bushfire Fund.

There was quite a tussle over some of the items with competitive bidding on the UFU Cap and the night ' s accommodation at Bicheno donated by Gayle Burns.

Thanks to all those who donated items for the auction including the United Firefighters Union, Elizabeth Osborne , the Australian Education Unions, the Maritime Union of Australia and Unions Tasmania
